Faucet Mount Water Filter, White, 3 Modes with Carbon Fiber Cartridge

A carbon fiber filter that mounts right on the faucet spout. It reduces chlorine, sediment, rust and lead, and takes the chlorine smell and taste out of city water.

Three modes on a turn knob: filtered water, unfiltered spray, and unfiltered stream. Running dishes on unfiltered means you are not burning through cartridge life on water going down the drain.

Four adapters plus a universal adapter are included, so it fits most standard threaded spouts, along with a tool for tightening. Figure five minutes to install.

Works between 41 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit at 15 to 58 psi. Fits kitchens, bathrooms, and RVs.

Two things worth knowing. It will not fit a pull-down sprayer spout or a faucet without threads on the tip. And a faucet filter is not a softener — it improves taste and reduces contaminants, but it does not remove hardness minerals. For that you need a softener.

Installation

1. Check your spout first. There have to be threads on the tip where the aerator screws in. A pull-down sprayer head will not work.
2. Unscrew the aerator. Turn it counterclockwise looking up at it. If it is stuck, wrap a rag around it for grip before reaching for pliers, so you do not chew up the finish. Put the aerator and its washer somewhere safe. You will want them back if you ever take the filter off.
3. Look at the threads you uncovered. Threads on the outside of the spout take one adapter, threads up inside the spout take another. Match the adapter to what you have.
4. Check the rubber washer is seated flat inside the adapter, then thread the adapter onto the spout by hand. Snug it with the included tool, no more. These are fine threads in soft material and they strip easily.
5. Fit the filter body onto the adapter and turn it until it locks. If the cartridge is packed separately, seat it in the housing first and check the seal is flat before you close it up.
6. Flush it before you drink any of it. Run cold water on the filtered setting for about five minutes. The first water out can look gray or cloudy from carbon dust. That is normal and it clears.
7. Check for drips with the water running and again with it off. A weep at the adapter almost always means the washer is not seated flat. Take it apart and reseat it rather than tightening harder.

Using It

• Cold water only. Hot water damages the carbon and can push what the cartridge has already caught back into your glass. Switch to unfiltered before you run hot.
• Use filtered for drinking and cooking, unfiltered for dishes and rinsing. That is what the three-mode knob is for, and it stretches the cartridge a long way.
• Change the cartridge when the flow slows down or the chlorine taste comes back, and do not run one past its rated gallons.
• If the filter sat unused for a few days, run it for 30 seconds before filling a glass.
• Do not let it freeze, and do not use it on water that is unsafe to drink untreated. This is a taste and contaminant filter, not a purifier.
