Rain Showerhead with Built-In Filter, 6 Inch, Black or Silver

A 6" top-mount rain showerhead with a built-in filter cartridge. The wide face spreads flow into a soft rain pattern rather than a hard jet.

ABS body with an electroplated finish, which keeps the weight down on the shower arm compared to a solid metal head. Available in black or silver.

The filter helps with sediment and chlorine taste and smell. Replacement cartridges are the ongoing item to keep on hand.

Installation

This is a hand-tight swap that takes about ten minutes. No tools are required beyond an adjustable wrench and a roll of thread seal tape.

1. Shut off the shower and unscrew the old showerhead from the shower arm counterclockwise. If it will not turn by hand, grip the arm with one wrench and turn the head with another so you do not twist the arm inside the wall.
2. Clean the old tape and buildup off the shower arm threads with a rag.
3. Wrap the arm threads with thread seal tape, three to four turns in the same direction you will be screwing the head on.
4. Check that the rubber washer is seated inside the showerhead nut. This washer, not the tape, is what makes the seal.
5. Thread the showerhead onto the arm by hand and turn until snug. Snug it a quarter turn more with a wrench if needed, and pad the jaws with a cloth so you do not mark the finish. Do not overtighten.
6. Turn the water on and check the connection. If it weeps, take it off, add another wrap of tape, and reseat it.

Filter care

Twist the face open to reach the cartridge. Replace it when flow drops off or the water starts to smell like chlorine again. On typical household use that runs three to six months, sooner on well water or heavy sediment.

Cleaning

Rub the rubber nozzles with your thumb every few weeks to break loose mineral buildup. For heavier scale, remove the head, soak it in white vinegar for an hour, then rinse. Do not use abrasive pads or bleach on the finish.
