Submersible Sewage Pump, 1/2 HP, 4800 GPH — Cast Iron, Tethered Float Switch, 2 Inch Discharge, 120V

A 1/2 horsepower cast iron submersible pump for sewage, effluent, and sump pits. It moves up to 4,800 gallons per hour and lifts up to 20 feet, with a copper-wound motor built for continuous duty.

Automatic operation: A tethered float switch turns the pump on as the pit fills and off when it drains.

Built to last: Heavy cast iron housing resists corrosion and dissipates heat.

Specifications

  • Power: 1/2 HP, 120V
  • Max flow: 4,800 GPH
  • Max lift: 20 feet
  • Discharge: 2 inch NPT
  • Switch: Tethered float, automatic

Installation Guide

  1. Unplug all power and clean any debris out of the pit or basin.
  2. Set the pump on a solid, level surface at the bottom of the pit, raised slightly off the floor if needed to keep sediment away from the inlet.
  3. Thread 2 inch discharge pipe into the pump outlet using thread sealant tape. Do not over-tighten into the cast iron.
  4. Install a check valve on the discharge line to stop water from flowing back into the pit, then a shut-off valve above it for easy service.
  5. Position the tethered float so it swings freely without touching the pit walls or piping. The tether length sets the on and off levels.
  6. Run the discharge line to an approved drain or sewer connection, following local plumbing codes.
  7. Plug the pump into a grounded GFCI-protected 120V outlet. Do not use an extension cord.
  8. Fill the pit with water to test. The pump should start when the float rises and shut off when the pit drains.

Usage and Care

  • Check the float and pit every few months and clear out debris.
  • Never run the pump dry.
  • Always unplug before servicing.

Good for basements, septic tanks, and residential sewage basins. If you're unsure about local code requirements, consult a licensed plumber.
