The waterfall spout gives you a wide flat sheet of water instead of a stream. It looks good on a vessel or a modern square basin, and there's no aerator screen in the path to clog up on you.

The drain is the part worth paying attention to. A pop-up drain with overflow is included, along with the mounting hardware and supply lines — so you're not standing at the counter at the supply house figuring out which tailpiece you need. That's usually a separate purchase and a separate trip.

Two things to know before you order. Waterfall spouts sit lower and reach shorter than a standard faucet, so measure from your mounting hole to the drain and make sure the water lands where it should — not on the back of the basin. And with overflow drain assemblies, your sink has to actually have an overflow hole. If it doesn't, you need the non-overflow version instead.

Also worth knowing: an open waterfall spout runs quieter than an aerated one, but it splashes more in a shallow basin. In a deep vessel sink it's no trouble at all.
